A. G. Rud, Ph.D.
A. G. Rud is department head of educational studies at Purdue University. He holds an AB from Dartmouth College and a MA and PhD in philosophy from Northwestern University. Rud’s research interests are the moral dimensions of teaching, learning and leading in both P-12 and higher education. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the cultural foundations of education. Rud was a founding faculty member of The North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (http://www.nccat.org). He is writing books on Albert Schweitzer’s legacy for education, and with Jim Garrison, on reverence and education. Rud is the editor of Education and Culture, the journal of the John Dewey Society (http://docs.lib.purdue.edu/eandc/) and is editing, with Lynda Stone and Jim Garrison, a volume of the journal to be published as a book by Purdue University Press, in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of John Dewey’s birth, in 2009.
